Dear Colleagues,
Please join me in congratulating our newest designated member, Laura Havel, MAI!
The Chicago Chapter of the Appraisal Institute has an outstanding reputation as an education provider. The benefits of attending a class or seminar are easy to identify - providing a path toward earning a designation, expanding your professional practice skills or completing your continuing educational requirements. The benefits of attending a member & guest social event are not as defined, therefore the events can often be dismissed. We do live in a time where we connect and maintain relationships through various social and professional networking websites. I recognize the importance of these web based networking tools but they cannot fully replace the richness of opportunity in meeting and talking in person with your professional peers or your potential future customer or your potential future employer/employee.
The Chapter has two upcoming events which will provide these opportunities. The first event will be held in the suburbs on the afternoon of September 8 at the Arlington Park Race Track. The second event is an evening downtown on October 6 for a dinner cruise. The details for both occasions are available by going to: http://www.appraisalinstitute.org/education/chicago. The deadline for CCAI Scholarship applications is September 1. The Scholarship Committee has worked to expand the number and type of scholarships awarded. For more details about the available scholarships go to: http://www.ccai.org/scholarships.php
In December 2013 we hired Mary Jane to help prepare and stabilize the chapter’s future. She jumped into the job with all her energy, professionalism and experience to help make this a better organization. She worked very hard on behalf of the Chapter to enhance the member experience. In less than three short years her impact on daily operations has become significant. I want thank Mary Jane for her efforts and I sadly say good bye and wish her good luck in this next phase of her life as she move back home to Florida.
