Thank You Again
On behalf of the Chapter, I want to express a sincere thank you to all of you who sponsored our “Day at the Races" event. Your generous contributions helped make our day a success. We had a great deal of positive feedback and we look forward to repeating the event next year.
Supervisor/Trainee Requirement
As of January 1, 2015, all individuals who desire to become Supervisory Appraisers and Trainee Appraisers are required to take a Supervisory/Trainee Course per the 2015 Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria. The program is mandatory for all newly licensed trainees (after 2015) and supervisors who want to supervise a new trainee appraiser after January. In addition to the AQB requirement, each state will offer their own segment covering the state appraisal laws. Although current trainees are not required to take these courses, they are encouraged to so.
On behalf of ICAP, Brian Weaver presented the first Supervisor/Trainee class offering at the Chicago Chapter Education Center on October 17th, which fulfilled both the AQB and State of Illinois requirements.
On January 26th, also at the Chicago Chapter Education Center, the Appraisal Institute will be premiering their four-hour Supervisor/Trainee course which will address the AQB's national minimum requirements, responsibilities, and expectations. CCAI is working with ICAP to offer the State of Illinois required segment of the training. Mr. Weaver announced at the October offering, that Illinois appraisers in need of the State portion will have until the end of 2015 to fulfill this requirement.
Pending Legislation
Our ICAP representatives continue to work on legislative issues affecting our profession. In November, ICAP will be bringing AMC language to the State Appraisal Board for consideration of including it in the Appraisal Rules. Please follow our state's legislative updates on ICAP's website.
Even though my year as Chapter President is winding down, please know that I still welcome all your ideas about how we can better support you and our profession. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon.
Regards,
Sharon Bagby, SRA
