About the Chapter
Where are courses held?
Courses are held at the Chicago Chapter office, located at 205 W. Wacker Dr. Ste. 202, Chicago, IL 60601.
When are courses held?
Courses are usually held weekdays during the day. Please refer to the education schedule, Click here to visit the schedule, to get an exact schedule for the course you would like to attend.
How much are the courses?
Please refer to the education schedule to find the specific price of the course you would like to register for. Please note that early registration prices end two weeks prior to the start of the course. Be sure to register early.
Does the Chicago Chapter have any other locations?
Unfortunately, the Chicago Chapter does not have any other locations. Our location is in the heart of Downtown Chicago, 205 E. Wacker Dr.
How do I determine whether a course or seminar is still open for registration?
If you see it on our website and it does not say "full" or "sold out," then you can still register.
What is your cancellation policy?
The Chicago Chapter charges a $50 fee for cancellations. If you have already received your materials, a call tag will be issued for your materials. You will be issued your refund when your materials are received. All cancellations must be submitted in writing to receive a refund.
The Chicago Chapter reserves the right to cancel a class at any time.
Can I pay the day of the course?
No. Students are not considered enrolled until payment for the course is received.
What methods of payment do you accept?
The Chicago Chapter will accept cash, money orders, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Personal or company checks will also be accepted until two weeks prior to the start of a course.
What if I can't register until last minute?
If you would need to register last minute, the Chicago Chapter will take only secured funds for payment, i.e. cash, money order or credit card.
Do you take purchase orders?
The Chicago Chapter does not accept purchase orders. Please note that you are not considered enrolled in the course if you have sent a purchase order. The accepted methods of payment include: cash, money orders, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Personal or company checks will also be accepted until two weeks prior to the start of a course.

Where can I find information about when courses will be offered again?
Please refer to our education schedule to find any courses. We list all the courses we are offering up through the end of the year.
How do I obtain a course completion certificate?
The national office of the Appraisal Institute will send a course completion certificate after all of the required documents are processed.
How do I obtain my continuing education certificate?
If you have taken a seminar from the Chicago Chapter, we will provide you with the letter of completion at the end of the seminar.
Why are the Appraisal Institute courses and seminars better?

Does the Chicago Chapter offer online continuing education seminars?

Does the Chicago Chapter offer night and/or weekend courses?
The Chicago Chapter does not offer night and/or weekend courses. All of our courses are offered weekdays during the day. Please refer to our education schedule, Click here to visit the schedule.
Where are my exam results?
After a course is completed, the Chicago Chapter sends the exams to the national office of the Appraisal Institute where it may take up to 15 business days to grade and mail your results.
How do I schedule to take a re-exam?
If you receive a letter stating that you did not pass, an application for a re-exam will be provided along with it. Before filling out the letter, please call the Chicago Chapter to schedule a date for the re-exam. After you have your date, fill out the form and send it to the national office of the Appraisal Institute where the re-exam application and payment can be processed.
How do I challenge a course?
To challenge a course, you will need to call the national office of the Appraisal Institute at 312-335-4100 and ask to speak to someone in Education.
How can I check my CE log on the national website and log in my CE credits for chapter programs?
Designated members can access their CE status reports by logging into the "Members Only" section of the national website, www.appraisalinstitute.org.
Which USPAP course(s) do I need: 7-Hour or 15-Hour?
If you do not have your state license, you will need to take the 15-Hour USPAP course.
If you have your state and/or certified license and need to take USPAP for CE, you only need the 7-Hour USPAP course.
Do I need to take the Business Practices & Ethics course?
If you are not a member of the Appraisal Institute, you do not need the Business Practices & Ethics course.
To meet the full Appraisal Institute standards requirement, all active members must complete one of the following options:
7-Hour USPAP Update Course *** AND *** Business Practices & Ethics Course/exam (no exam with the online course)
OR
15-Hour USPAP Course/exam *** AND *** Business Practices & Ethics Course/exam (no exam with the online course)

Does the Chicago Chapter help me in finding a job?
The Chicago Chapter does not help directly in finding a job. Please go to the Career Opportunities page to look for ads that are posted. You can also search on the Appraisal Institute website, www.appraisalinstitute.org.
Where should I try and find a job?
A good place to start when looking for a job is the Career Opportunity page on the Chicago Chapter website, or you can try the Appraisal Institute site. Companies will also post jobs on other job seeking websites.
What if I'm not certified by January 1, 2008? How will the new AQB changes affect me?
If you are not certified by January 1, 2008, you will fall under the new requirements for certification.
To become certified residential, you will need 200 hours of education, 2000 hours of experience and an associate's degree or higher.
To become certified general, you will need 300 hours of education, 3000 hours of experience and a bachelor's degree or higher.
