AQB Changes USPAP Requirement Effective Jan 1, 2005
Beginning January 1, 2005, associate and certified appraisers will no longer be allowed to substitute the 15-Hour USPAP Course in lieu of the 7-Hour USPAP Update Seminar for USPAP continuing education credit. According to the Appraiser Qualifications Board, appraisers will be required to take the 7-Hour USPAP Update Seminar a minimum of once every two years for required CE credit.

Students who are seeking to become an Associate licensed appraiser will still have to take the 15-Hour USPAP Course for qualifying education credit toward their license rank.

In addition, Illinois will allow licensed appraisers to obtain continuing education credit for the 15-Hour USPAP course, but appraisers will still need to meet their USPAP requirement by taking the 7-Hour USPAP Update Seminar. In other words, that would be 21 hours of USPAP in a two year period.

I say thanks, but no thanks. 7 hours of USPAP every two years is plenty for me.
